BORN AND HOME:

John Marcos was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1966; and was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey and Miami Florida.

43 YEARS MARTIAL ARTS & COMBATIVE BACKGROUND:

​

John Marcos started boxing when he was just 8 years old and in 1979 he transition to martial arts in Miami, Florida. He began his training in Shotokan, under whom was second generations after the founder of Gichin Funakoshi. Through his youth, he competed in Full-Contact Fighting, Point-Fighting, Free-Form Kata and Kobudo Kata; where he won many championships. 

 

At 16 years of age he continued his martial arts training in different arts; such as Judo self defense, Kempo Karate and traditional jiu-jitsu in San Juan, PR. 

 

In 1990, John Marcos started his training in Isshinryu Karate, Kobudo, & Tuite Jitsu under Sensei Javier Martinez; and acquired his Black Belt rank in year 2000. 

 

In 2004, John Marcos begins his training in Combat Hapkido in Aguada, PR and then continued in Miami, FL where he achieved his Black Belt rank. 

 

In 2007 John Marcos started his training in self defense Commando Krav Maga, a Israeli fighting system.  Today he holds the rank of level 7 and Core Instructor rank (there are only 5 Core instructors out of 500 instructors in the world), and has taught 100's of civilians in group classes and private classes the concepts and techniques of the Israeli self defense and survival system.

 

In 2008 John Marcos gets certified as a Protection Agent for Dignitaries (Body Guard), under the "Institute of Security and Protective Operations (ISPOL)." John Marcos has protected senators, executives, and others. 

 

In 2009 John Marcos  obtained the Instructor Certification of "CKM Law Enforcement".  Since then he has trained federal agents such as, FBI, DEA, NIE, ICE, Military Police, Security personnel and Body Guards in search and control arrest tactics, and protection.

In 2014 John Marcos started training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Luis Santiago of the Carlson Gracie jr. Puerto Rico Team. On January 2022 he obtained his Brown Belt head instructor rank. Today he runs two facilities where he teaches jiu-jitsu to kids, and adults.

SPECIALIZATION:

 

John Marcos has made a name for himself in the martial arts community, where he is highly respected for his years and knowledge in self defense. Today he offers a variety of classes, from Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Karate, and Krav Maga self defense.

​

He also specializes in teaching self defense classes and seminars to women around the world, not just PR, where he teaches how to detect, avoid and defend against a kidnapping attempt, sexual and domestic violence attacks when the attacker has a weapon or no weapon. 

 

John Marcos also works as a volunteer once a week helping women in shelters for domestic violence and sexual abused by teaching them self defense.

John Marcos is a highly trained hand to hand combative instructor who specializes in defense and disarming against all kinds of weapons, which include disarming an aggressor holding a gun, rifle, knife, machete, bat, stick, chair, broken bottle, whether is outside on the street, or inside your home or vehicle.
